Current Critical Industry Trends

Tensions in the Strait of Hormuz continue as Iran warns vessel charterers to follow its restrictions, while negotiations over the waterway remain unresolved.

The U.S. began banning nearly $1 billion in Canadian imports Tuesday, adding new restrictions to an already strained North American Trade relationship.
 

Ocean

Iran’s southern ports are cut off from the rest of the country due to U.S. naval blockade, causing road routes across land borders to experience intense strain.
 

Ports

Shippers are turning to port-to-inland routes to diversify freight flows, reduce long-haul trucking and limit exposure to congested ocean corridors.

The Panama Canal is increasing daily capacity to 33 vessel slots and restoring deeper drat limits as water conditions improve, easing restrictions at a key global trade route.
